The Aramaic Peshitta New Testament Library is a complete set of tools to study the Peshitta text of the New Testament. It is published under the imprint LWM Publications. The books are available in the LWM Bookstore as well as on Amazon. Included in the Library are three versions of the translation: the hardback version with footnotes, a paperback version and a Messianic version. Aramaic Peshitta New Testament Translation is a new translation of the New Testament into English that is based on the Gwilliam text. This translation includes explanatory footnotes marking variant readings from the Old Syriac, Eastern text, and other Peshitta manuscripts. Other footnotes provide cultural understanding and a system of abbreviations that mark idioms and figures of speech so that they are easily recognizable. The translation is as literal as possible, but with readable English, giving the flavor and rhythm of Eastern language. Aramaic is the language of the first century and the Peshitta is the earliest complete manuscript of the New Testament.

The Parallel Translations of the Aramaic Peshitta New Testament text combines new and old translations to bring an unprecedented tool of study to the Bible student. It combines the standard King James Version and the new translation by Janet Magiera of the Peshitta with the most popular out of print translation of the New Testament by James Murdock. This combination of translations gives an immediate method of comparison and enables the student of the Bible desiring to study the Biblical text from a variety of angles all in one place. The methods of translation vary from scholar to scholar, but with the ability to compare the verses, the student can check the variations in the choices of words, and then get an overall understanding of the passage. This volume is designed to be used with the Aramaic Peshitta New Testament Vertical Interlinear, Dictionary Number Lexicon and Word Study Concordance.

The English translation of the verse is written out directly above the list of individual words and corresponds to the translation from the Aramaic Peshitta New Testament Translation by Janet Magiera. To the left of each individual word is the Dictionary Number used by all of the Light of the Word Ministry publications. Further study can be made by searching the Word Study Concordance and looking up the number in the Dictionary Number Lexicon. Volume I covers Matthew through Luke.

Light of the Word Ministry has designed a new numbering system for the lexemes (main word forms) of the Aramaic Peshitta New Testament. This system has been arranged by root order and includes the words related to this root in a “family” group. The root dictionary number is printed in Arial bold italic type and the words related to this root and printed in Arial type. The purpose of the numbering system is to facilitate ease in learning how to study the Aramaic New Testament. Each word has its own Dictionary number and can be studied using the number (similar to the Strong’s numbering system). It is designed to be used with the Vertical Interlinear and Parallel Translations as part of a set of study tools. It is further augmented by an English glossary.

 

This new edition is now coded to the Light of the Word Ministry (LWM) numbering system which is in use in all of its publications.This lexicon refers to Syriac words that are only used in the New Testament and has “copious references, dictions, names of person and places and some various readings found in the Curetonian, Sinaitic Palimpsest, Philoxenian and other manuscripts.” This quotation is taken from the Jennings original title description. There are also many references to specific verses and the meanings of specific forms of the words as used in the context. This is a very useful tool for Bible students in studying the range of meaning of a particular word.
